Canada and United States moved their clocks forward an hour a few weeks ago on March 9th to observe Daylight Saving Time, and Europeans will do the same today (March 30th). Spring is officially here – the start of sunnier days, new buds, floral blooms and household cleaning. I am delighted at the thought of spring cleaning because it gives me the opportunity to organize the home and gives me an excuse to shop for organizing products. I love anything to do with organization and planning.
Once I step into my favourite organization stores, I cannot contain myself. Looking at the array of colourful storage containers and matching organizing folders is like admiring beautiful jewelry and gemstones at Bulgari. No matter my initial mood upon entering these stores, I always leave extra cheery and content after shopping. … Or, perhaps it’s the euphoria of usually having purchased something from these stores? 😉
If you have the opportunity for a good browse at the following stores, I think you will also appreciate the amazing selection and affordable organization products they offer. | |
Canada | Silicon Valley (U.S.A.) |
• Crate & Barrel • Daiso (Richmond, BC) • IKEA |
• Amazon (online shopping only) • Bed Bath & Beyond • Crate & Barrel • Daiso (San Jose, CA; largest location in the Valley) • IKEA • The Container Store |
• Daiso is a Japanese “dollar store” or “variety store“. Basically all products at Daiso locations in Canada are $2.00 CAD and $1.50 USD in Silicon Valley. They have all sorts of organization products – from storage containers, food storage, office folders to binders. • Unlike The Container Store, Daiso is not a specialty organization store. Daiso carries a large selection of organizing products amongst many different things. For a one-stop shop on organizing, The Container Store should more than suit your needs. • Both IKEA and The Container Store have popular customizable storage and organizer systems. IKEA has several storage and organizer systems/models, whereas The Container Store focuses on one, the “elfa“. • If you are a fan of Simple Human products, Bed Bath & Beyond, Crate & Barrel and The Container Store carry many of their products. |

It wouldn’t be unusual spend an hour or more browsing in these stores, and find it hard to leave empty-handed as well. |
“First comes thought; then organization of that thought into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.” — Napoleon Hill
