National Ice Cream Month

dahlia-pink In 1984, U.S. President Ronald Reagan declared July as National Ice Cream Month, and July 15th as National Ice Cream Day.

I may be a couple days late in commemorating this delicious event, but there’s always room for ice cream. Right? 😉

These boutique ice cream parlours are getting quite the Bay Area crowd:

  • Tin Pot Creamery (in Town & Country Village plaza, Palo Alto, CA) — Although it has only been opened for a month, we’ve spotted lines at various times during the weekend. We enjoyed these flavours – “four barrel coffee with cocoa nib toffee”, “brown butter pecan”, “earl grey” and “lavender with blueberry swirl”.
  • Smitten Ice Cream (San Francisco, CA) — WIRED’s June 21, 2013 article about Smitten Ice Cream, “How Silicon Valley Perfected Ice Cream” has made me eager to visit this shop for some icy treats.
  • Ici Ice Cream (Berkeley, CA) — While shopping along College Avenue, I wish I had saved room for dessert, and put enough money in the parking meter to include the wait in line for their ice cream. My next visit to Berkeley will have to include a stop at Ici.

Wishing you yummy icy desserts while you enjoy your summer to the max!
